3. How we collect information

We collect information you provide when you register, use the Application, request or perform a Trip, make a payment, contact support, submit feedback or otherwise interact with QRide.

Some information is collected automatically from your device when necessary for the operation, security and reliability of the Application. We may also receive limited information from service providers involved in authentication, payments, maps, communications, analytics, fraud prevention or other platform functions.

4. Location information

Location is central to QRide's e-hailing service. Depending on your device permissions and the features you use, QRide may process location information while the Application is in use to determine pickup points, match Drivers, provide ETAs, support navigation, monitor an active Trip and provide safety or dispute-resolution functions.

QRide will request location permissions through the relevant operating system mechanisms. You can change permissions through your device settings, but doing so may prevent some QRide features from functioning.

5. How we use personal information

Where you use QRide's in-app calling functionality, we may process information required to establish and support the call. This may include the identities or account identifiers of the caller and recipient, the associated Trip, call status, timestamps, duration and technical/network information necessary to connect or troubleshoot the call. The exact information processed depends on the communications technology used by QRide.

6. Sharing information

We share only information reasonably required for the relevant purpose. For example, information necessary to perform a Trip may be made available to the Driver assigned to that Trip.

We may use service providers for hosting, cloud infrastructure, payments, mapping, communications, identity verification, analytics, fraud prevention, customer support and security. These providers may process information on our behalf and are expected to handle it in accordance with applicable contractual and legal requirements.

We may disclose information where required or permitted by law, court order, regulatory requirement, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property or the integrity of the Platform.

7. International transfers

Some QRide service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa, QRide will apply the safeguards and requirements applicable under POPIA and other relevant law.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, security and fraud prevention, resolving disputes, maintaining financial and business records and complying with legal obligations.

When information is no longer required, QRide will delete, destroy or anonymise it in accordance with applicable law and our operational retention requirements.

9. Security

QRide uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and you should protect your account credentials and device.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law and any lawful limitations, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction or deletion of inaccurate or unnecessary information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

Requests should be sent to moses.brucelee@jaggulasconsulting.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your QRide account through the account-deletion functionality made available in the Application or by contacting moses.brucelee@jaggulasconsulting.com.

Deleting your account does not necessarily mean that every record is immediately erased. QRide may retain information where required or reasonably necessary for legal compliance, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, safety, dispute resolution, enforcement of agreements or other lawful purposes. Retained information will continue to be handled under this Policy.

12. In-app calling

QRide may provide an in-app calling feature between a Passenger and the Driver assigned to a Trip. The feature is intended to help users coordinate the Trip and communicate about pickup, access, delays, navigation or safety.

Depending on the technical implementation, calls may be facilitated by QRide or a third-party communications service. QRide may process call metadata necessary to provide, secure, troubleshoot and administer the feature. This can include call participants, Trip association, timestamps, duration, call status and technical information.

Call recordings: QRide will not represent that calls are recorded unless the relevant feature actually records calls. If call recording is introduced, the Application and applicable privacy notices will provide the required notice and any legally required consent or other lawful basis before recording occurs.

Users must not misuse the calling feature, including harassment, threats, fraud, solicitation, unlawful recording, or attempts to circumvent QRide's privacy and safety controls.

12. Children

QRide accounts are intended for persons who are legally able to use the service. We do not knowingly design the service for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to QRide contrary to applicable requirements, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for essential functionality, security, preferences, analytics or other disclosed purposes. The Application may use device-level identifiers or similar technologies required for functionality, security and diagnostics.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will publish the updated version and revise the effective or last-updated date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
